Okay, first I talked about the Short Suit. Then the Mankini.
I’m not trying to turn this into a men’s fashion blog but they just keep throwing this stuff my way.
This article says that the Batman movie “The Dark Knight” has sparked a fad in men wearing pantyhose:
“Retailers in Europe and the United States say that men are buying pantyhose — sheer, satin, glossy, opaque or support — in skyrocketing numbers in recent months.”
If this is truly a fad, I really doubt it was inspired by a superhero movie. Maybe some dudes just want to look “polished,” are going for the sleek hairless look.
The article also points out that pantyhose was actually a staple of men’s fashion in humanity’s past — but that women stole the idea for themselves.
A steal at $149.99, you can take home a pair of faux-adamantium (stainless steel) claws that are movie-prop level quality and perfect for the deco nook in your home. They even have the structure that lets you wear them on your hands. Unfortunately, you can’t take them off the base and pose with ’em.
Don’t see why they couldn’t make this feature. I mean, it’s not like anybody is going to strap them on and do something stupid. They sell an arsenal of Kill Bill swords and ninja stars to fanboys at conventions all the time. Of course, it just takes that *one* case of an apeshit disaffected individual with an X-Men fetish and a score to settle…
Anyway, you can buy ’em from Sideshow Toys here.

I kid you not, True Believer.
Auditions are underway for Peter Parker in a proposed Spider-Man musical that will feature a score by Bono and The Edge from U2 and will be directed by Julie Taymor (The Lion King).
The casting call for Peter Parker describes him as:
“male, 16-20’s [with a] great rock voice, can be nerdy with understated sex appeal, good sense of humor”
While Parker’s girlfriend, Mary Jane, is:
“female, 16-20’s, beautiful girl next door, strong pop/rock singing voice.”

If you are in the market for a graphic novel — and may or may not dig capes and tights — you should check out Dash Shaw’s gargantuan “Bottomless Bellybutton” by Fantagraphics Press. New York Magazine named the book, about a family reunion and parents divorcing after 40 years of marriage, “graphic novel of the year”:
“…720 pages of knotty family drama, emotional teen angst, lyrical passages about nature, good jokes, bad parenting, architectural schematics, rudimentary codes, and explicit sex…”
The book is heavy — literally — but a page-turner. Best of all, unless she or he is offended by gentle frog-faced young men who masturbate in knitting, this is the perfect “starter” graphic novel to give your significant other.

An apparent fixture in the crime-ridden city for decades, Gotham City Pizzeria now has its own website.
From the site:
“I know this is controversial, but sometimes you have to take a stand. One day, when we were first expanding to lots of neighborhoods in Gotham, I picked up the day’s receipts from our shop in East End. The street lamps were out, and the sidewalk was deserted. Two thugs approached me and demanded money. I was too slow – and one of them pulled out a shotgun. Suddenly, they were gone. I looked up, and Batman had snatched them in his arms and was giving them a little dose of Gotham City Justice. From that moment on, we put special emphasis on making the streets around our locations safe – and business skyrocketed. Batman is an inspiration to all of us who want to take control of our own lives and fight back against the criminals of Gotham City. GCP supports Batman.”
No word if the oft-rumored bat-cannoli will be on the menu.
